Emulex Showcases Industry-First 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Adapter Technology Demonstration at EMC World 2011
Emulex Also Demonstrates New OneCommand Manager for VMware vCenter
COSTA MESA, Calif., May 4, 2011 – Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced a the industry's first 16Gb/s Fibre Channel adapter technology demonstration utilizing the recently announced Emulex XE201 I/O Controller, at EMC World 2011 in Las Vegas next week.
This technology preview will showcase a true end-to-end 16Gb/s Fibre Channel link by uilizing the XE201as an initiator server adapter connected to a target mode device based on another XE201 interface. The demonstration is connected through a JDSU Xgig 5000 chassis with its new 16Gb/s Fibre Channel multi-functional blade. As the industry's first available and only complete test solution for 16Gb/s Fibre Channel, the JDSU Xgig 5000 monitors 16Gb/s Fibre Channel activities with error-free I/O connectivity.
16Gb/s Fibre Channel is a key feature of the new Emulex XE201 I/O Controller, which provides the first 16Gb/s Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), 10Gb/s Ethernet (10GbE) and 40Gb/s Ethernet (40GbE) connectivity on the same ASIC. Along with 16Gb/s Fibre Channel for both initiator and target uses, the eight core high performance XE201 I/O Controller supports a wide range of new features enabling massive scalability to support more virtual machines, greater management functionality, and end-to-end encryption and data integrity in a power-efficient design.
Emulex will also demonstrate the new OneCommand Manager for VMware vCenter software plug-in which enables comprehensive control of Emulex server I/O solutions (Fibre Channel and FCoE adapters, and 10GbE Network Interface Cards) from VMware's vCenter management console. The demonstration will highlight the ease of adapter lifecycle management to maximize virtual machine scalability, and availability from VMware vCenter while connecting to EMC midrange storage.
Emulex will be showcasing both demonstrations in booth #1118 at EMC World 2011 next week, May 9 - 12, in Las Vegas.
